Job Description

A multi-discipline engineering firm with over 70 years in business is looking for a Traffic Engineer f or their Huntington, New York office! 

Responsibilities:

• Prepare traffic impact/parking studies including the review of site plans for traffic safety issues and parking facilities for local zoning conformance
  
• Coordinate/perform the planning, analysis, design, and permitting tasks for traffic/transportation engineering, land development, and master planning projects
  
• Analyze signals, signing, and pavement markings
  
• Deliver tasks/projects on time within guidelines and schedules
  
• Complete progress reports as needed
  
• Draft/prepare traffic impact reports
  
• Manage relationships, both internal and external
  
• Travel to field/client visits in NY metro area
  
• Work independently and prepare expert reports summarizing findings, using accepted engineering principles, prepare for EBT’s, and hearing/trial testimony
  

Requirements:

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
  
• 5+ years of traffic engineering experience (road, intersection, and overall infrastructure design
  
• PE License in New York
  
• Auto CAD knowledge
  
• Strong knowledge of NYSDOT Highway Design Manual
  
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), Synchro, MUTCD, ITE Traffic Engineering Handbook, ITE Parking Generation, ITE Trip Generation, and AASHTO
  
• Ability to read/comprehend roadway plans and contracts
  
• Traffic signal design experience preferred
  
• Nassau-Suffolk County experience preferred
