Job Description

Hahnco Inc. is looking for a Retail Store Manager to join our team. The Retail Store Manager will oversee a retail location and its staff to achieve profitable sales in the Gibsonburg location.

Responsibilities: 

The Gas Station Manager is responsible for the overall operation and profitability of the gas station. This includes managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining inventory, handling cash and financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and organized individual with strong leadership and customer service skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee daily operations, including fuel sales, convenience store sales, and car wash (if applicable).
    • Ensure the station is clean, well-maintained, and properly stocked.
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages.
    • Maintain equipment and ensure proper functioning of pumps, registers, and other machinery.
    • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures.
    • Handle and resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Staff Management:
    • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff.
    • Create and maintain staff schedules.
    • Motivate and lead staff to achieve sales goals and provide excellent customer service.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
    • Address staff disciplinary issues as needed.
  • Financial Management:
    • Manage cash handling and ensure accurate cash register operations.
    • Process daily sales and financial transactions.
    • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
    • Monitor and control expenses.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial and accounting procedures.
    • Handle bank deposits.
  • Customer Service:
    • Ensure a positive and welcoming environment for customers.
    • Train staff to provide exceptional customer service.
    • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
    • Implement customer loyalty programs and promotions.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain safety records.
    • Train staff on safety procedures and emergency response.
    • Handle fuel spills and other hazardous materials according to regulations.
    • Ensure proper maintenance of all fuel storage and dispensing equipment.
    • Maintain proper documentation for all regulatory requirements.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of fuel, convenience store items, and other products.
    • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
    • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing.
    • Minimize product shrinkage and loss.
  • Food Service:
    • Monitor supply levels
    • Prepare food 
    • Analyze trends in food sales
    • Track spoilage and minimize waste
    • Train employees in food prep

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a gas station or convenience store setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle cash and financial transactions accurately.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles.
  • Understanding of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with fuel management systems.
  • Certifications in safety or related fields.
  • ServeSafe certification Level 1 or above

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
