Job Description

Job Title: LPN / LVN – ED Pediatric
Location: Syracuse, NY
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Variable – Evenings/Nights

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support pediatric patients in a fast-paced emergency department setting. This 13-week assignment is ideal for a nurse with strong clinical and administrative experience, capable of delivering compassionate care while supporting physicians and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities Patient Care
  • Welcome and escort patients to examination rooms

  • Prepare patients and assist during exams and minor procedures

  • Set up trays for injections; measure and record vital signs

  • Administer injections and assist in clinical procedures (e.g., pap smears)

  • Monitor and document patient progress and response to treatments

Administrative Duties
  • Perform front-desk tasks such as reception, scheduling, filing, and chart preparation

  • Coordinate insurance authorizations for PT, imaging, surgeries, and specialist referrals

  • Obtain referrals or extensions from primary care providers

Clinical Environment
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of exam rooms and clinical spaces

  • Assist in executing nursing care activities per the care plan

  • Communicate patient observations to the medical team in a timely and professional manner

EMR Documentation
  • Accurately document all patient interactions using an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system

  • Prior experience with EMRs is highly preferred

Qualifications
  • Licensure: Active LPN or LVN license in New York State

  • Experience: Prior outpatient or acute care experience preferred; ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with EMR systems and strong documentation accuracy

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and multitasking abilities
