Overview:

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and patient Lead Learn & Play Associate, whose greatest passion is to see kids learn and grow, to join our Learn & Play team. Each day, our Learn & Play Associates have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children, creating joy in each child's life by teaching through play and hands-on activities.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Lead Learn & Play Associate will give leadership, direction, and supervision to Learn & Play staff, children and participants in youth programs. You play a key role in ensuring that program participants have a safe, supportive, positive, interactive and enriching program experience that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing programmed activities.

Responsibilities:

· Supervision of Learn & Play staff during your shift.

· Responsible for resolving parent, child and staff issues during shift.

· Report any problems or concerns to the Learn & Play Coordinator or Director.

· Provide and ensure all staff are providing appropriate care, supervision, guidance, and nurturing to Learn & Play participants and maintain discipline and order.

· Assist with scheduling of staff in youth program areas

· Ensure that curriculum and enrichment programs are being followed by staff in all program areas.

· Complete routine and required forms to include but are not limited to attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports.

· Provide discipline for participants that are age-appropriate and maintain respect for the child.

· Possess a working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and be able to exercise sound judgment.

· Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies.

· Complete a written requisition of supplies and submit weekly.

· Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and Children.

· Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents.

· May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for training, extended program hours, PEAK nights, or association events.

· Observe and interact with children and physically intervene when the safety of children might be compromised.

· Greet parents and ensure that all children are properly signed in and out.

· Provide a pleasant and positive environment for children by means of cleanliness, order, interactive activity, and décor.

· Develop simple activities, arts and crafts, games, and stories for use during appropriate theme weeks.

· Maintain all procedures, systems, and services through logbooks and lesson plans.

· Maintain Learn & Play ratios.

· Assist with inventory and maintaining all supplies.

· Attend all require trainings and staff meetings.

· Maintain all required certifications and annual updates.

Qualifications:

· Minimum age of 18 years

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Experience with children leading recreational activities

· At least 2 years of equivalent part time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school aged children and/or family programming

Posted Salary Range: USD $15.00 - USD $16.50 /Hr.
