Position Overview:
The Art Teacher will have the unique opportunity to inspire and educate students in Art. Our ideal candidate is a passionate educator with a strong background in Art and Art History and has the ability to adapt to various teaching levels and styles. All Chesterton Academy teachers are employed at-will and operate as professionals within the guidelines established by the Board of Directors, Mission, Vision, and Philosophy of Chesterton Academy of Wichita Falls.
Responsibilities:
- Studio Art: Teach students fundamental drawing, painting, and sculpture techniques while fostering an appreciation for beauty
- Art Appreciation (Art History): Guide students through the history of art, focusing on key artistic movements, styles, and artists, particularly within the Catholic tradition.
- Implement lesson plans embodying classical teaching principles provided by the Chesterton Schools Network (CSN)
- Build appropriate relationships with the students that develops a passion for learning and a love for God and others
- Effectively assess the academic, moral, and spiritual growth of the students
- Provide extra tutoring for any student struggling with a subject or skill
- Demonstrate effective classroom management skills
- Compile and maintain all reports, grades, and documents required for student records
- Communicate frequently with students and their parents
- Create a welcoming, nurturing, and age-appropriate classroom environment
- Diligently enforce all school policies
Requirements
- Practicing Roman Catholic and demonstrate a commitment to Catholic secondary education (Preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in Art or a related field (Required)
- 2+ years teaching art in a classical school environment (Preferred)
- Strong ability to integrate Catholic theology and philosophy with the arts.
- Committed to the mission of Chesterton Schools Network and the teachings of the Catholic Church
- A love for his/her subject matter and students
- An understanding of and adherence to Chesterton Academy's Mission, Philosophy of Education, and organizational culture
- Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to interface with students, parents, colleagues and administrators with grace, sensitivity, and flexibility
- The ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff and the school board
- A commitment to a lifestyle of learning
