These services include individualized instruction, writing workshops, thesis processing, and faculty development. The GLC is critical to maintaining NPS's high on-time graduation rate (~93%) and fostering academic integrity and excellence across disciplines, including engineering, national security affairs, systems engineering, and cyber operations.

Summary :
Advanced Writing Instructors at NPS lead for-credit graduate writing and communication courses and support students writing theses and research projects in complex defense-related fields. These instructors play a pivotal role in enhancing student readiness for publication and advanced analysis in fields such as national security, defense analysis, and systems engineering.

Key Responsibilities :

• Teach up to 8 sections annually of for-credit courses in research, writing, and communication
• Support students in developing complex arguments, literature reviews, and defense-relevant research communication
• Conduct advanced workshops for academic publishing and strategic communication
• Collaborate with departments to embed writing instruction into curricula
• Perform research on pedagogy, writing effectiveness, and generative AI's impact on learning
• Support faculty with writing-related course design and assessment

Qualifications :

• MA or PhD in a writing-intensive field (minimum GPA 3.5)
• 10+ years of writing instruction, including 3+ years at the graduate level
• Demonstrated experience in academic publishing or conference presentations
• Familiarity with research methods, academic ethics, and critical thinking pedagogy
• Strong communication and instructional design skills
